Rio
Roses Clinches the 2005
Super Vee National Championship
Deerfield
Beach, FL - October
9th, 2005 The Rio Roses
42 ft Fountain staked
their claim as the 2005
National Points Champion
in a stunning come-from-behind
victory on the 3-4 ft
seas in Deerfield Beach.
Coming off the heels
of a huge victory in
New York, the team kept
their sights on the
championship as they
moved through the field
with precision. After
starting the race in
5th position and trailing
the leader by 12 seconds,
driver Michael Seebold
closed the gap and ultimately
took the lead with two
laps left.
With
David Knight at the
throttles the Rio Roses
boat extended their
lead to take the checkered
flag 24 seconds ahead
of the second place
Instigator team, another
42 ft. Fountain. The
Rodriguez Group boat,
a 38 ft. Fountain finished
strong in third place.
"This is a huge
win for us", said
David Knight, "This
is the second race we
have not only won the
super vee class, but
won overall, as well".
The Fountain Teams are
now preparing to invade
Key West on November
13-15 for the World
Championships.
