Fountain Powerboats Wins World-Wide Acclaim

Fountain Powerboats’ total domination of offshore racing will be honored Friday, Feb. 15, during the Miami International Boat Show. Robert Wicks of the European UIM Circuit will present the P1 Manufacturers World Championship Cup to Reggie Fountain during a ceremony scheduled for 11a.m. at the Fountain Exhibit in Booth C57 inside the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Fountain took 9 of 13 top finishes in the Powerboat P1 circuit, blowing away a who’s who of offshore racing in Europe, taking the checkered flag over the likes of Outerlimits, Donzi and Buzzi, all marquee names in the racing world.   

Throttleman Craig Wilson, speaking for the victorious team, said: “Fountain has dominated the 2007 P1 offshore season. It has long proven its winning ways in the U.S., but by winning the P1 Series so convincingly, we have truly established Fountain’s global dominance.”

The Miami International Boat Show is the most renowned venue for powerboats and is the springboard for new models and designs. With hundreds of manufacturers fighting for the spotlight, there is room for only one. Fountain has claimed this spot.

Powerboat P1 is one of the fastest growing motorsport events in Europe, evoking the excitement and glamour of land-based races such as Le Mans and the Mila Miglia. Races are televised worldwide and the carnival-like atmosphere of P1 events attracted more than 280,000 spectators last year.

Reggie Fountain, Fountain Powerboat’s chairman and one of the most successful offshore racers in history, noted: “I am proud to accept this championship trophy on behalf of this great racing team. We set out to win every time we’re on the water. And we do it. Our thanks to everyone at Powerboat P1.”
