Fountain Powerboats Claims Powerboat Magazines Offshore V-Bottom of the Year Award
April 17, 2007 – WASHINGTON, NC – Fountain Powerboats does it again. Powerboat
Magazine awarded Fountain Powerboats Offshore V-Bottom of the Year for the 2007 38-
foot Lightning. The new 38 Lightning confirmed to be everything and more for the
Powerboat Magazine testing team.
Packed with twin-staggered 700 SCi Mercury’s with NXT1 drives, the 38 Lightning took
the Powerboat testers to an incredible 114.9 MPH. As a matter of fact, this was not even
a special setup…this was stock right off the factory floor for the 2007 model year. The
boat performed above average during the trials, and handled all speeds and maneuvering
without flaws.
As impressive as the performance was, what also left a mark was the upgraded cockpit
and cabin. With a new upholstery design for each, the comfort of the 38 Lightning has
been increased. The cockpit now affords a triple bench in the rear, from whence it was
just a flat bench prior. The new bench is now molded for three occupants, and provides
just as much comfort as the forward bolsters. The luxurious cabin also has had a
revamping of the interior to include new colors and a sliding cabin hatch.
This was the 30th award added to the long list of awards presented by Powerboat
Magazine. And just as of last year, Powerboat also presented the Offshore V-Bottom of
the Year Award to Fountain for the 2006 47 Lightning.
